The restaurant prides itself on fresh, well-prepared dishes that highlight traditional Malaysian seafood flavors with a home-style twist. The yam fish hotpot, featuring succulent garoupa fish alongside fresh Chinese cabbage, enoki mushroom, and a subtle hint of Tong quai, stands out for its delicate layering of flavors. Another standout is the fish head pot, where a savory soup base enriched with evaporated milk complements the crispy fried fish head, creating a comforting and memorable dish that leaves a lasting impression.

Beyond seafood, the poached chicken here is notable, boasting tender meat with a glossy skin, enhanced by the simple yet effective combination of soy sauce, oil, and crispy fried garlic. Pork lovers will appreciate the marmite pork ribs—crispy, sticky, and richly flavored enough to keep both kids and adults coming back for more. For those who prefer vegetables, the green dragon vegetable provides a fresh and clean contrast to the richer dishes.

Service at Jia Wee Seafood House is efficient and friendly, with the restaurant bustling to full capacity by early evening, especially on weekends and festive seasons. Booking ahead is recommended due to its popularity. While there have been occasional notes on communication hiccups, staff remain approachable, striving to ensure diners have a pleasant experience. That time, I was on the way to Desaru and decided to start the journey one day earlier so we cohld stop by one of the town in Johor overnight. I chose Batu Pahat as the destination of the night, and by the time we arrived at our destination it was already dark. Famished, we set out for dinner but my intended restaurant was closed.. panicked, I quickly called my friend in BP and he suggested this restaurant. I always trust his recommendation as most of the time, I ended up with good meals. Located in the older part of the town, we entered the restaurant and ordered... ◾poached chicken - the skin was glistening, the meat was juicy and tender, drizzled with combination of soy sauce and oil and topped with fried garlic with chilly sauce on the side. ◾Marmite pork ribs - crunchy and beautifully coated with the dark and sticky sauce which the kids fought for all the meat. ◾Fish head pot - now this was a pleasant surprise.. we love the flavour of savoury soup base mixed with evaporated milk (just like those fish head noodle soup) sweetened by the deep fried fish head. I could just eat this dish alone. ◾Green dragon vegetable After the satisfying meal, we proceed to have a joyride around town and then to our next destination.

They have air-cond dining area next to the original restaurant. Our reservation was 7pm on Saturday. The restaurant was packed by 7.30pm. My favourite was the yam fish hotpot. Garoupa fish, Chinese cabbage, enoki mushroom, seaweed and a hint of Tong quai. The steamed egg was a little overcooked. The rest of our order was reasonably good. Service was great. No long wait. Will definitely dine here again if I visit Batu Pahat again. Note: Ample parking by the street. They serve dinner only. Business hours from 5pm to 10pm. Open daily.

Dinner during 7th day of CNY, the food waiting time was considered fast during the festive season. It took 30minutes before the food was served. Food taste good but can be more warm. It was as expected especially cny period. The Hainanese chicken taste nice but the chicken is a bit small (maybe kampong chicken). Indonesia curry prawns also taste good and it was perfect match if served with bun. The waiter/ waitress service to be improved. A male waiter (kid) missed my additional order, "man tou", we waited so long but never serve. Service to be improved. Got 2 shops, side by side, one with a/c, another one without.

Food is nice and have aircon environment. But take note to tell them size of servings when ordering. And we do not use wet towel even though return before but was not communicated between the staff and cashier. Do check your receipt from getting overcharge.
